Hello, I'm Dr. Lara Schwab! I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 1997 and went on to earn my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. I began my career in the North Dallas area, where I practiced for 12 years before joining Lake Conroe Veterinarians in 2013 and working at Lakeway Animal Medical and Surgical Clinic. I have a passion for dermatology, dentistry, and internal medicine, and I love educating the community and advocating for pets' well-being.
I am a proud member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and Montgomery County Veterinary Medical Association (MCVMA).
Why I Chose This Profession
From a young age, I’ve always had a deep passion for caring for animals and people. At 16, I started working for a small animal veterinarian, and the dedication and compassion I witnessed from the veterinarians there solidified my desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
Favorite Part of My Job
My favorite part of being a veterinarian is serving and educating the community to enhance the welfare of pets. I am passionate about being a pet advocate, building strong bonds with my clients and their pets, and working together to improve the care and well-being of every animal I meet. I have a special interest in dermatology, dentistry, and internal medicine, and I enjoy helping pet owners navigate the complexities of their pets' health needs.
Personal Hobbies & Interests
Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Ryan, and our two children, Claire and Noah. I am also an avid competitor in Versatility Ranch Horse and Stock Horse riding, which allows me to combine my love for animals with the thrill of competition.
